Summer Reading Project: Entry 4: Looking For Alaska

     I choose the book Looking For Alaska, the reason I chose this book and not any of the others is because I have read books by John Green before I really enjoy how they are written. Also, it seemed very interesting and the type of book I usually go for. I ended up loving it so much that I have re read it many times.
 
     Three personal connections I saw in between the book and myself was how the characters were all in high school just like me and i could relate back to their age. Also, some of the characters reminded me of my friends and how they all have such different personalities and we all get along so well. In the book they also have the Weekday Warriors who are the rich kids whose parents pay for them to go tot that school. We have many different cliques in our school too. Even if we don't go to a private school we still have lots of variety of people here.

     If I could recommend this book to one person in particular it would be people in high school. Mainly more towards girls because it does have a little bit of romance in it. But overall is a good book for everyone with a little bit of everything in it. It has some emotional parts but not to much that will bring you out in full tears.

Summer Reading Project: Entry 3: Looking For Alaska

     I read Looking for Alaska and the part that really hooked me into reading was when Pudge first went to boarding school and met Alaska. You automatically know right away that she is going to be important to the story because her name is part of the title. She is a very important character and is very interesting. Everything she does is different and you want to know why she does it. This is also a hooker for the intended audiences because you want to know how Pudge and Alaska's friendship starts because telling from the title they have some type of connection. I think the author put the hooker a couple pages into the book so you could just start off getting background knowledge of Pudge first.

Passage:
     He knocked once, louldly. Through the door, a voice screamed, "Oh my God come in you short little man because I have the best story."
     We walked in. I turned to close the door behind me, and the Colonel shook his head and said, " After seven, you have to leave the door open if youre in a girls room," but I barley heard him because the hottest girl in all of human history was standing before me in cutoff jeans and a peach tank top.

Summer Reading Project: Entry 2: Looking For Alaska

     In my book Looking For Alaska the three main characters Pudge, Colonel, and Alaska have a lot of background about them and they are very complex. First, Pudge who's real name is Miles but got the nick name from Colonel because of how skinny he was. He just switched to Culver Creek High School for his Junior Year. At his old school he didn't have much friends and was the "brainy kid". At Culver Creek he meets other smart kids that share his love for learning but also teach him what it really means to be a teenager and live a little, because you never know when your last day is going to be. Pudge also meets a beautiful girl

     Alaska that he quickly falls in love with and becomes friends with. Alaska is very complicated and she has a boyfriend also.

     Chip or also known as The Colonel is one of their friends too and he is great remembering things and he is the opposite of Pudge he is short and built very strong. Something that is very important to The Colonel is to make his mom happy. His mom is not rich and he just wants to good in school to help her out. His friends are also very important to him because he doesn't have a dad. He wants to be able to support his mom.

     Alaska is very complicated with a very hard back story. Her family life is not good. Her mom died at a young age and she never wanted to see her family. She was very different than her friends and she put on the look of being tough though she really was broken inside. She enjoys reading and her room was filled with books she has . She also did many other weird things like a wax volcano that she would always work on.



     The theme of this book is how these friends might have hard pasta but they just want to be friends and try to find the best in it. Life is not always fair and you never know how long its going to last.
This book is structured by being put in 2 sections, before and after. The after is after the big climax of the book.

Summer Reading Project: Entry 1: Looking For Alaska

     In my book Looking For Alaska by John Green the major characters are Pudge, Colonel, and Alaska. They are the most important characters in this book. There are other secondary characters but they only come in the book sometimes. The main setting of this book is at their school Culver Creek. This school is a boarding school so they are always there on campus and spend most of their time there besides holidays when some people go home to celebrate. The main conflict in this book is how Miles or Pudge goes to this new school and experiences many things with his new friends and is peer pressured. Also he develops feelings for one of his friends Alaska. Alaska has a lot of conflict in her life and it effects all of her friends. My prediction for this book is that something is going to happen to Alaska or Pudge and his friends are going to get caught doing something bad and they are going to get in trouble. I wonder what is wrong with Alaska's family? Will Pudge ever get his moment with Alaska? This book remind me of another book I have read where the weird kid (Pudge) switches school and makes new friends. In this book Alaska reminded me of a character in another movie I watched also.
